Late to the Party

First day of school! Woot!

(just trying to be positive, I really feel for all those kidlets having to return to the daily grind, sue me, I’m one of the strange parents, I guess.)

Ok, so this is the start of Ethan’s junior year of high school, Kate is now in the 8th grade and it occurred to me that when Maggie starts Kindergarten I will have a senior and a freshman in high school. Eee gads!

I took pictures this morning and I have to say that Ethan was pretty obnoxious. Not cute obnoxious either, in fact he was being a total ass. I don’t know, you’d think nearly 17 years of having me for a mother he’d be used to my taking pictures on the first day of school. Nope, have to act like it is some brand new annoying thing.

First Day of School

That’s fine. When we dropped him off I made a big deal of rolling down my window and taking pictures as he walked on to the campus. Maybe next time he’ll remember to just shut the hell up and smile when we’re at home, hmm?

Last night we took them out for dinner. Sort of a last meal before their academic imprisonment for another year.

Amy, Maggie, Kate, and Ethan
Pay no attention to the cow on the left. Ugh.

About half way through dinner Maggie became super wiggly and claimed to have a tummy ache until she was offered a hot fudge sundae. *sigh* Nothing can go easy or relaxing with three kids.

The kids here started a few weeks ago; tell Ethan to be thrilled you didn’t follow his every step to the schools front door.

I’ve never seen so many grade-schoolers who were happy to leave their parents as the little boy whose mother took a photo of every step he took as he walked to school.

School starts next Monday here. One more week to go! And I would have yelling at him too - not just taking pictures.
Love you Ethan! Be Good Ethan! Mommy will miss you!!!! Bwhahhahahaha! :rotflmao:

School started last week here.
And Ethan really should count his blessings that it was just pictures. Normally I’m yelling I love you my snuggly buggly boo or something equally mushy. I have even been known to ask if they have their cream with them for that nasty rash.

Academic imprisonment? School is fun, especially if you have classes with your friends!

I totally would have guessed your kids were the kind to love school.

Devin was still all about posing for pictures this morning. “You only go into 3rd grade once!”

Emma? Not so much. Little shit.

No no, my kids DO love school. Really. Kate was stoked to go back, notice, I had nothing obnoxious to say about Kate because she’s Kate and she’s awesome… and I meant academic imprisonment totally tongue-in-cheek. Sheesh. Am I the only person who still sympathizes with the end of summer?

AvitableAugust 18th, 2008 at 12:55 pm

I didn’t really like summer - I preferred to be back in school.

Awww…they look cute. And I totally know how you feel. You did see the “happy face” picture of MY daughter, didn’t you? Maggie looks adorable! And her mom looks pretty nice, too.

The boys’ first day back was today and now they’re off the next 2 because of the hurricane. I’m almost glad that I’ll be at work and not penned up in the house with them.

Cow? STFU. You’re cute, dammit.

I don’t see any cows in the picture. Just beaaaautiful girlies. um though there is a hideous one on the right–tell her to keep out of broad daylight. :]

I’m getting senioritis already!

Ha! I remember when my dad pulled something similar when he dropped me off one day. Except he yelled out the window, “I love you, X!!!” My friends thought it was awesome. I was mortified. Now? I think it was awesome, too.

School starts Friday here. And I agree with everyone else. Ethan should have been thrilled that it was just pictures. I have also been known to yell out the window “I’ll miss you! I love you! See you later, Sweetie Pie” :nyah:
